How to manage your release forms

Keep every model release in one place with a free ProntoID account, and attach it to any Box with a Form ID.

10 minutes 6 steps Free ProntoID account

If anyone other than you appears in a Box, you need a signed release for every one of them. On NSFW Boxes this is required before you can publish; on SFW Boxes it's optional, but it protects you and helps with commercial use and brand licensing. This tutorial shows the easiest way to keep those releases organised and attach them to your Boxes.

How it works

However a release is created on ProntoID, from a scanned paper form, a digital release or ProntoTag, it gets its own Form ID. That Form ID is all BentBox needs. You enter it in the Consent & model release step of your Box, and the release stays safely in your ProntoID dashboard.

Several performers in one Box? Add all of their Form IDs, separated by commas.

Two ways to add a release

Recommended

ProntoID dashboard

Keep every release in your free ProntoID account and enter its Form IDs on your Boxes.

  • A visible, searchable archive of every release you hold
  • Reuse one release on every Box from the same shoot
  • Digital releases and ProntoTag, with verified signers
  • No passport copies sitting in your inbox

Upload on the fly

Upload a scanned release from the Box itself, for archive shoots where you can no longer reach the model.

  • Free, and linked to the Box automatically
  • No dashboard to browse or search your releases
  • Harder to reuse on other Boxes from the same shoot
  • Several performers means building zip archives

Signing up to ProntoID takes about a minute, and it gives you a set of tools that every creator who works with other performers should have. If you only remember one thing from this page, make it this: set up the account once, and every release you collect from now on has a home.

Shooting with your spouse or partner? There's a simpler route: your partner verifies once on your account and you never need a release for the content they appear in. See Your spouse or partner below.

Choose how to create the release

ProntoID supports three ways of recording consent. All three give you a Form ID, but they don't protect you equally.

Scanned release

Upload paper releases and ID copies you already hold to the encrypted vault. Best for your existing archive.

Basic protection

Digital release

Send the release by link or QR code. The model verifies with ProntoID and signs on her own phone; you never receive her ID.

Strong protection

ProntoTag

Each tagged performer verifies their identity and approves the specific content they appear in. You can tag straight from your Box for €0.99 per tag.

Why we recommend moving beyond scans

The release form in the drawer

A photographer shoots a session and the model signs his standard paper release, covering "photographs taken during the session". A year later he adds a short behind-the-scenes clip from the same shoot. Years after that, the model asks for the content to come down, and her lawyer points out that the release never mentioned video. He acted in good faith; the paper simply didn't say enough.

"A signed paper release protects you, but only for what it says, and only until someone tests it."

A scan isn't tied to specific content, its signature isn't tied to a verified person, and the model never saw what was published. Digital releases and ProntoTag close those gaps. Keep scanned releases as a fallback for older work, not as the default for new shoots.

Step by step: add releases with ProntoID

  1. Create a free ProntoID account

Sign up at prontoid.com. It takes about a minute and gives you a dashboard for every release you hold, today and in the future.

    Create your free ProntoID account
  2. Add a release for each performer

Upload a release you already have, send a digital release, or tag the performer with ProntoTag. Whichever you choose, ProntoID gives the release its own Form ID.

  3. Copy the Form IDs

Open the releases that cover this Box in your ProntoID dashboard and click "Copy Form ID" on each one. You need a Form ID for every person, other than you, who appears in the content.

  4. Open the consent step of your Box

On BentBox, open Manage box for the Box. In step 2, Consent & model release, click "Complete consent" (or "Manage consent" if something is already on file).

  5. Choose "Other people appear in it"

On the "Who appears in this box?" page, choose "Other people appear in it". The next page lets you tag the performers, upload a release you already hold, or enter a Form ID.

  6. Enter the Form IDs, separated by commas

Choose to enter a Form ID, paste the Form ID of every performer in this Box separated by commas, and save. The consent step on Manage box now shows as completed.

One shoot, many Boxes. With a ProntoID account, the same Form ID can be added to every Box you make from the same shoot, for example each part of a Box series. A release from a different shoot can't be reused, even for the same model. And check that the release covers the type of content in each Box: a release for photographs doesn't cover a video.

Uploading a scanned release on the fly

Have a signed paper release for an older shoot, and no way to reach the model any more? You can upload it straight from the Box, without a ProntoID account.

  • Choose "Other people appear in it"From Manage box, open Consent & model release and choose "Other people too", then "Other people appear in it".
  • Choose "Upload a signed release"Confirm that you can no longer reach the model and that the release was signed for this specific shoot, then click "Upload release form".
  • Upload the release and the ID on ProntoIDOne file in each slot. More than one performer? Upload a zip of all the signed releases in one slot and a zip of all the IDs in the other.
  • Done: it's linked automaticallyThe release is attached to your Box as soon as it's registered. There's no Form ID to paste.

The model release upload tutorial walks through this route screen by screen, with screenshots. If you can still reach the model, use ProntoTag on the same page instead (€0.99 per tag): it's the stronger record.

On the fly means no archive. The release is attached to this Box, but without a ProntoID account you have no dashboard to browse or search your releases, and reusing it on other Boxes from the same shoot is harder. For anything beyond a one-off, a free ProntoID account is the better choice.

Your spouse or partner

If your spouse or partner appears in your content, with you or on their own while you shoot, you don't need a release for every Box. Your partner verifies once on your account, and every Box they appear in is covered by that verification.

  • Verify yourself firstThe account holder needs to be verified before a partner can be added. Your own verification is never affected by your partner's.
  • Your partner verifies on your accountOpen Partner verification while logged in to your account, on your device or theirs, or use Verify a partner in your account settings. Your partner verifies their identity with ProntoID and signs a release for the content on your account. It's anonymous: BentBox only sees that a partner is verified, never their name or documents.
  • Choose "My verified partner" on each BoxIn Consent & model release, pick this option and confirm that everyone in the Box is you or a partner verified on your account. It works whether you're in the Box too or behind the camera. The card shows how many partners are verified on your account; your account settings show the same count and let you add more.
  • We check at reviewBecause the verification is anonymous, our review checks that the people in the Box match the verified people on your account.

Only for you and your verified partners. If anyone else appears in the Box, even once, choose "Other people appear in it" and add a release for them. A recurring model with their own account is not a partner: use ProntoTag or a release for each shoot.

Before you publish

  • Every person other than you who appears in the Box has a release, or is the partner verified on your account.
  • Each release covers this content: photos, video, or both.
  • All Form IDs are added, separated by commas, or the zip holds every release and every ID.
  • For new shoots, you used a digital release or ProntoTag rather than paper.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, you can create a ProntoID account for free and start managing your releases straight away. Studios and agencies with larger rosters can move to a paid plan later if they need to.

Whenever anyone other than you appears in the content of a Box. You do not need one if you are the only person in the content, or if the Box contains only AI-generated content with no real, identifiable person in it. The consent step is required to publish NSFW Boxes; on SFW Boxes it is optional, but still recommended, because it helps with commercial use and brand licensing. If the only other person is a spouse or partner verified on your account, choose "My verified partner" instead of adding a release.

No. Your partner completes a one-time BentBox KYC on your account, using the partner option at bentbox.co/kyc-verification?role=partner, and signs a release there. After that, choose "My verified partner" on each Box they appear in, whether you are in it too or behind the camera. You need to be verified yourself first. You can add more partners from your account settings. The verification is anonymous: BentBox only sees that a partner is verified, so when we review the Box we check that the people in it match the verified people on your account. If anyone else appears, even once, add a release for them as usual.

With ProntoID, paste the Form ID of each performer's release into the Form ID field, separated by commas. If you upload on the fly from the Box instead, put every release and every ID for every performer into one zip archive and upload that.

Yes, for Boxes made from the same shoot. With a ProntoID account you can add the same Form ID to every Box from that shoot. A release from a different shoot cannot be reused, even for the same model. Check the scope of the release too: a release that mentions only photographs does not cover a video.

Yes. You can upload it to your ProntoID vault, which gives it a Form ID, or upload it on the fly from the Box for an archive shoot where you can no longer reach the model. For new shoots, and for anyone you can still reach, we recommend a digital release or ProntoTag instead, because a scanned signature is hard to tie to a verified person and to specific content.

Uploading on the fly is meant for archive shoots where you can no longer reach the model. The release is linked to that Box automatically, but without a ProntoID account you have no dashboard to browse or search your releases, and reusing the same Form ID on other Boxes from the same shoot is harder.

It makes your records easier to keep, find and produce, but the responsibility for having the right consent and records stays with you as the creator. ProntoID and BentBox do not provide legal advice.
