At a glance

What BentBox is
BentBox is a marketplace where photographers, studios and creators sell individual sets of photos and videos, called Boxes, as one-off purchases rather than subscriptions.
What it costs a creator
Nothing. There is no listing fee, no monthly fee and no cap on how much you upload. BentBox adds its commission on top of your price, so you receive 100% of the price you set.
What a buyer pays
The buyer pays your listed price plus the BentBox commission: a minimum of $3 on Boxes under 100MB, and $5 on Boxes of 100MB and above.
Does BentBox have subscriptions?
Boxes and Videos do not: they are one-off purchases. Separately, BentBox offers Clubs, which are subscription-based feeds where members pay a recurring fee for ongoing access to your posts. Opening a Club is optional.
Who it suits
Creators who already run a subscription or membership site and want a second, non-competing channel for one-off sales.

A subscription site converts the people who already love your work. It does very little for the much larger group who like one particular set, want to buy it today, and have no intention of committing to a recurring payment. BentBox is where you sell to that second group.

Why add one-off sales alongside your subscriptions

Capture the non-subscriber

Someone who will not sign up for a monthly membership will still happily pay for a single set they actually want. That sale is revenue you are currently turning away.

Your own branded shop

Your BentBox page is a shop front you control: your Boxes, your Videos, your Collections, your descriptions, all at one link you can share anywhere.

It sits below your membership

Boxes are one-off purchases, so they do not ask anyone to choose between paying you monthly and paying you once. They catch the traffic that would otherwise bounce.

If you do want recurring revenue here too: Clubs

One clarification worth making, because it is the first thing most studio owners ask. Selling Boxes is not subscription based, which is why it does not compete with your membership site. But BentBox does also offer Clubs, which are subscription-based feeds: members pay a recurring fee for ongoing access to what you post there.

So you have two distinct things available, and you decide which you use:

Boxes and Videos: one-off

A buyer pays once for a specific set or video and keeps it. Nothing recurring, nothing to cancel. This is the part that runs alongside your own subscription site without pulling members out of it.

Clubs: recurring

A Club is a subscription feed on BentBox. Members pay on a recurring basis for continuing access to your posts. This one is a subscription product, so if you run your own membership site, treat it as a decision rather than an automatic addition.

Plenty of creators publish Boxes on BentBox while keeping their membership entirely on their own site, and never open a Club. Others use a Club as their only subscription and close their own. Both are normal. What matters is that you are choosing deliberately rather than discovering later that you set up two subscriptions competing for the same wallet.

How the money works

The commission model is deliberately simple, and it is the part most creators want confirmed first:

  • You set the price. You receive that price. BentBox does not take a percentage out of what you asked for.
  • The commission is added on top and is paid by the buyer: a minimum of $3 for Boxes under 100MB, and $5 for Boxes of 100MB and above.
  • Payouts run monthly by bank transfer, Paxum, Yoursafe, PayPal or gift card. Full detail is on How we pay you.

If you are working out what to charge, Pricing strategy covers how set size, exclusivity and release cadence should move your number.

Start selling in three steps

1

Create your account

Sign up at bentbox.co/signup. You will complete identity verification before you can publish, and you will need a signed model release for every person who appears in your content.

2

Upload into Boxes and publish

Group your photos and videos into a Box, write a description that makes someone want to open it, set your price, and publish. There is no limit on how much you upload, and photos and videos can live in the same Box. Step-by-step instructions are in the tutorials.

3

Point your existing audience at it

Put your BentBox link where your non-subscribers already are: your free posts, your bio links, your newsletter. Then use promo codes to give lapsed members a reason to come back.

What you get from us

  • Support you can actually reach. Email info@bentbox.co and a person answers.
  • Marketing tools that keep growing: promo codes, Collections, Time Boxes, revenue sharing, direct messaging to your buyers and followers.
  • An analytics page showing your sales, your payouts and which of your content your buyers actually come back for.

Frequently asked questions

Selling Boxes on BentBox does not compete with a membership site, because Boxes and Videos are one-off purchases rather than subscriptions. They reach buyers who want a single set and are not ready to commit to a recurring payment. BentBox does separately offer Clubs, which are subscription-based feeds, and a Club would be a recurring product competing for the same audience as your own membership, so opening one is a deliberate choice rather than an automatic part of selling on BentBox.

Yes, through Clubs. A Club on BentBox is a subscription-based feed where members pay a recurring fee for ongoing access to what a creator posts there. This is separate from Boxes and Videos, which are always one-off purchases. Creators choose whether to run a Club; it is not required in order to sell Boxes.

Selling on BentBox is free for creators. There is no listing fee, no monthly fee and no limit on how much content you upload. BentBox earns from a commission that is added on top of your listed price and paid by the buyer.

The BentBox commission is added on top of the creator's listed price and paid by the buyer. It is a minimum of $3 for Boxes under 100MB and $5 for Boxes of 100MB and above.

BentBox pays creators monthly. Payouts can be sent by bank transfer, Paxum, Yoursafe, PayPal or gift card, and you choose your method in your account settings. The How we pay you page covers thresholds and timings in detail.

Yes. Listing a Box on BentBox is not exclusive, so you can sell the same content elsewhere. What the BentBox Terms do not allow is using BentBox to solicit buyers into transacting off-platform, or exchanging content outside the marketplace with people you met on it.

Yes. Every BentBox creator completes identity verification, and a signed model release is required for every person appearing in content before that content can be published. Verification is handled by ProntoID, a separate identity verification provider, and BentBox stores only the verification outcome.
