Penelope

"Photos of a beautiful and classy young woman inspired by sepia toned and hand colored photos from the early 1900s. She is seen here in stockings, lace and pearls and also in several Mourning Portraits. In the late 1800s it was a tradition to commemorate a death of a loved one with a portrait of the surviving family member. She is shown first formally, attired in her moourning finery, clutching a black rose, and the in a more private moment as she contemplates the touch of her lost lover. She is also shown in Memento Mori Portraits. This is another tradition from the late 1800s of photographing a dead loved one, dressed up in their best and posed as if sleeping. The first image is clothed and formal. The second shows the deceased as the object of desire that she represented to her lover."
