This is a risky box for sure, since just-turned 18 year old high school senior Scarlett was with her family on a cruise when I met her and if they found out she had posed nude for me, they would NOT be happy. Her mother asked what kind of photos I took, when she heard my last statement. I told her that I shot boudoir images, and only used natural light, no flash. Scarlett's dad said proudly ‘My family follows the pure life, and my kids would never do something like that,’ he paused for a moment and said, ‘no offense to you Jake of course.’ I responded back and said ‘no problem, I am not offended, no worries.’ Interestingly, Scarlet did ask what boudoir meant and after I told her she commented, ‘so they pose in their underwear?’ I grin and said, ‘well I guess lingerie could be considered underwear, so yes.’ Her dad offered what he did for a living and changed the subject because his wife was clearly getting uneasy. At the end of lunch, we all departed and went our separate ways and I was afraid I wouldn’t get the opportunity to ask Scarlett for her phone number for later follow-up. Fast-forward again 1.5 months later and one random morning I got a text from Scarlett letting me know she was in town with her friends, from school, and she had remembered our interaction on the cruise. She apologized for the late notice but wanted to know if I could squeeze her into my shooting schedule that day? Well I was completely booked up but I told her I would move some shoots around to fit her in later that afternoon. She showed up at my studio and she brought with her an evening gown and one lingerie piece she had recently bought for her boyfriend. I took extra time to check her age, then had her sign the paperwork.
